Team Development

The Value of Teams

No one knows the job, tasks, and goals better than a team’s individual members. To get outstanding results, you need not only their knowledge, skills, and abilities, but also their trust, commitment and willingness to get the job done as well.

"I want to thank you for the work you did with us, helping us to develop an improved sense of teamwork and understanding between our Board and our Management Team. Over the years, mistrust and misunderstanding had grown and become the order of the day. With your help, we came back to the realization that we all really are on the same page, sharing the same goals and ideals. Your work with us helped pave the way to mutual respect and appreciation, and a much more productive working environment. Thanks!"

IS YOUR TEAM THE BEST IT CAN BE?

Does your team:
- Take responsibility for achieving goals?
- Support and help each other?
- Recognize and celebrate each other’s successes and strengths?
- Communicate openly and effectively?
- Embrace conflict and the perspectives of others
- Focus on the solution, instead of the problem?

A high performing team has three major benefits to an organization:
1. It maximizes all its resources, human and technical.
2. It achieves superior outputs, against all odds.
3. It is continuously improving.

Why invest in building your team?

The term "team" is used frequently, but to become a real team takes work. A high performing team is committed, coordinated, focused, adaptable, and has diverse skills and talents.

In a performance group or on a sports team, over 90% of the participant’s time is spent practicing - Standardizing their routines or processes, identifying roles and responsibilities, improving communication effectiveness, working on their coordination, alignment or teamwork. The focus is on learning from mistakes until they are ready to perform for the audience or fans.

In the corporate world, less than 5% of an individual’s time is devoted to off-line learning. In fact, nearly all the learning in organizations happens after the fact and in front of customers, where mistakes are costly to the organization’s reputation, and bottom line and/or an individuals’ career development.

Sadly, knowledge is not what makes a team successful (or high performing). The ability to work together toward a common goal is what characterizes high performing teams.

How we do it

Knowledge without experience fades. Experience, that’s why we give you, and the opportunity to apply your knowledge. Knowledge applied leads to wisdom.

We use a multi stage system and work with you to assess your team’s strengths and its areas for improvement. Together, we create a plan to educate, to acquire experience and sustain momentum. For your team to thrive, its unique strengths and challenges must be understood and addressed. We help you understand what are the important characteristics of high performing teams and how everyone’s involvement is critical to its success.

When a group comes together, transcends boundaries and becomes a high performing team, it is often called "magic." We teach you how to make magic. Effective teams form the heart of every organization, but creating and developing these teams is one of the keenest challenges managers face. We use challenging and creative exercises to engage and encourage people to become more involved in each others success. You will walk away knowing what it takes to be and build a high performing team.

Assessments – To make sure we give you exactly what you need and enable you to apply and evaluate results across your organization, we offer several types of assessments. We are certified to offer the Leadership Circle Profile assessment for leaders and the Leadership Circle Culture survey for teams and organizations. This powerful cadre of assessment tools can be used to assess individuals, teams or entire organizational cultures. We also design custom assessments for your team or organization.

Team Development programs

A defining characteristic of all Next Level programs is that they are experientially based. We give you more than information; we help you apply and integrate it. People need to process more than facts and concepts to be motivated and to perform effectively - to identify what needs to be done, to be skilled at it, and use it consistently. They must experience it. Its members can then understand and apply the learning immediately.

Team Leader Certification - teleclass (Coming Fall 2010)
People go to college to develop their careers and then work on the job to get the experience they need to be an expert, but being made a leader of people is still done in the dark. With our team leader certification program you will get the skills, experience and feedback to make a measurable difference immediately.

Ropes Courses

Off site events - Our learning is portable, from the conference room to the wilderness. Let us know what your needs are and we will create an experience to fit them.

"The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don’t play together, the club won’t be worth a dime."
- Babe Ruth

TESTIMONIAL
"Tom Courry and his staff are unconventional teachers and leaders.  They create challenges that allow you to discover who you are as a human being and as a leader. You quickly discover that the habitual and the familiar do not work. You need to access new ways of learning. Your body learns more than your head. It’s learning you don’t forget because it lives in your cells." - Guthrie Sayen
